Hi everyone today I'm going to talk about a lesson which is very important and you will be asked in your baccalaureate final exam :
The lesson is Gerund and infinitive
Just try to learn these versbs by heart and you will succeed.
this is the first rule
The second rule is practice. Practice makes things perfect
Now let us begin with verbs:
1. We use the Gerund after these verbs :
Admit : for example : He admitted having made the mistake.
Avoid: for example : They avoid going on holiday on saturdays.
Dislike: for example : We dislike reading poems.
Finish: for example : They finished working on their project.
Enjoy : for example : I enjoy playing chess.
2. We use the infinitive with "to" with certain verbs such as:
Agree: for example : Tom agreed to travel with us.
Promise: for example : They promised to help us.
Expect: for example : I expect you to succeed in your exam.
Manage: for example : Mohamed managed to get another job.
Ask: for example : Our teacher asked us to clean the classroom.
3. We use the gerund or the infinitive after these verbs :
Begin: for example : He began reading. and in the same way it is correct if we say: He began to read.
Hate : for example : I hate working on saturdays. Also correct if we say I hate to work in saturdays.
Like: for example: I like swimming. Also it is correct if we say I like to swim and so on...
If you learn all these verbs by heart you will not face any probelm dealing with them in your exams.
